Web Development - SEO

Almost of web master aware of traffic. Higher traffic thats mean higher income for your site. The question, how to bring traffic to your site? Simple answer, your site must be known by the world. And the ultimate question, how your site known by the world? Yup. Search engine. If search engine show your site on their result pagethats mean there's a chance some one visit your site. (not all internet marketer aggree with this, some research show that direct link is better than search engine).

Talking about search engine, are you aggree with me? If internet divide into vintage, now is Google vintage. One day I heard my friend looking for something in the internet, and the other said just Google it.You see? He didnt said search it using Google, but Google it. Some people already change the word search with Google.
So, first thing you need to do to get traffic. Get your site indexed by google. There's so many site show you how to do that. But I believe, the most trusted site is Google itself. visit http://www.google.com/webmasters/ to get more information.

Here some summary to get indexed by Google.

1. Put meta tag that accurately describe your site content.

2. Try to use text instead of images to display important information or link. (using tag h1, h2 etc).

3. If image can't be avoid, make sure, TITLE and ALT tag describe correctly.

4. No broken link.

5. Don't put too many link on given page. (fewer than 100).

6. Submit your sitemap to Google.

7. Check your site behaviour using Text Browser such as Lynx. Most crawler see like Lynx would.

Next some quality guideline recommed by Google.

1. Try to develop site for user. not for search engine.

2. Don't use unauthorized computer programs to submit pages, check rankings, etc. Google does not recommend WebPosition Gold™.

3. Avoid hidden text or hidden links.

4. Don't use cloaking (page showing to user is different with search engine result).

5. If your site participates in an affiliate program, make sure that your site adds value. Provide unique and relevant content that gives users a reason to visit your site first.

The last thing that made me amaze by Google. In humble way, they also recommend to submit your sitemap to other search engine or directory.Like Yahoo and Open Directory Project.
